The tech committee has met many times to put together a Tech plan for our school, (see below), and at this week's upcoming staff meeting we will be sharing some projects using the content creation apps on our iPads. We realize there is limited time at this upcoming meeting to have lengthy discussions around technology, so this is just a sharing session and we will be bringing recommendations to the staff within the next few weeks.
To date we have 47 iPads…
10 with Resource Teachers (English and French)
13 for Intermediate class use (with Ms. Persoon)
8 for Primary class use (with Ms. Quon)
8 for library/project teacher/school use (with Ms. Hong)
8 with individual staff in the "pilot group"
The Plan
1st Priority
-Primary Building: to get a cart with laptop, projector and necessary cables/dongles (as they do not have any of these) **this has since been completed
2nd Priority
(1) purchase 30 more iPads (minis) as well as 40 cases for the iPads **20 of these 30 iPads have been received and are part of our present 47 iPad collection.
(2) purchase 3 additional projectors and necessary cables/dongles
(3) distribute iPads to "pilot group", one per person (those who responded to the survey conducted at the end of Dec. – this has been done)
-this is a temporary loan with the hopes that these people will experiment with the content creation apps on the iPads, teach digital citizenship with their students, share their experiences at our "digital cafe" in June and return the iPads in June; a personal responsibility agreement will be given out along with these loaned iPads
Priority # 3
-purchase apps for new iPads
